Eeeek! I’ve forgotten how to login to Hotmail. I’ll try some more options in a bit.
The House in the Valley has undergone yet another major change. The Amazon has come to stay there. (“Amazon” is from the boys and they are quite accurate. She’s a VERY large woman.) Another patient for the Landlady.
Of course, Daddy M is arriving on Saturday and I have to wonder if maybe Landlady didn’t acquire the Amazon to make sure the spare bedroom wasn’t available for Sister and Daddy M. On the other hand, the hospital where Landlady sometimes works is evidently going bankrupt so she won’t get much more work there and needs the extra income from taking on another patient.
JM gave me some DS games to sell for him. I warned him I wasn’t going to Game Stop again until payday, so he’d have to wait. In the meantime I am trying “Pokemon Diamond Version” which is one up for sale. A very cleverly designed game.
The television set I use mostly for films although there are two Japanese soap operas (or mini-series?) I enjoy, mainly because there are such cute young actors on them.
There has been a Brad Pitt bonanza recently. I saw “Sleepers” for the first time, in which he looks like a beautiful teenager and “Seven Years in Tibet” which I’m amazed I missed the first time around, given my interest in both Tibet and Mister Pitt. I watched “Mr and Mrs Smith” twice, the third time counting the first in a theatre, likewise “Meet Joe Black” my FAVORITE Pitt film. I still want the DVD.

Mitchell is a sweetie, as I just told him in a comment to his blog.
Well, it looks like we have a big change coming at the House in the Valley. The Father of the lads is coming from the Philippines. Coming to stay. I assume he and Sister will find a place of their own and I’ll no longer have the daily company of those wonderful boys.
That’s probably good for me because it will remove the one barrier to getting in line for subsidized senior housing.
Sigh.
(I watched the final presidential debate, of course. No question in my mind about who came out ahead. And it wasn’t Joe the Plumber.)

I’ve been trying very hard to keep politics out of here … but …
I did re-register to vote. After twelve years of abstaining, I just have to do it this time.
The idea of That Palin Woman becoming President of this country is a nightmare of the first order.

Last month I bought a little crock pot from Wal-Mart. I’ve never owned one before but thought I might get $12 worth of fun out of it. A true assumption. I use it every day.
It’s especially good with vegetables and beef, less successful with chicken which somehow gets very dry. And it’s perfect with chili. Pasta, though, is a bit of a problem. The stoneware cooking pot retains heat so well that cooking goes on long after the power is turned off, resulting in a glutinous mush. Clearly noodles or macaroni need to be removed from the pot as soon as it is cooked. I’ve still neglected to buy some container for that transfer.
Don’t tell me I’ve reached the point where I have to carry around a shopping list.
Meanwhile, woe is me. My DS seems to be slowly dying. The top screen has gotten dim and frequently flickers like the days when one used a rabbit-ear antenna on a TV set. I think it needs the battery replaced but a young man told me at the shop that they used to carry a replacement set but Nintendo has stopped making it. So the only option is to send it off for repair. “Might as well buy a new one,” he said.
Ouch.
