It’s about time! Brad Pitt appeared in a dream, and I kissed him. I couldn’t resist. He’s just so beautiful. Right in front of Angelina, too. Neither of them seemed bothered by my audacity but then I suppose they are thoroughly used to all sorts of adulation. I, however, was so shocked I woke up. Damn.
Not long ago there was a Blessed Event at the Toothbrusher’s house. Egypt2′s mama gave birth to three more kittens. One of them is an almost exact copy of Egypt2 who seems not at all pleased by the appearance of her Mini-Me and goes out of her way to avoid it, especially by spending more time in our front garden. That’s just fine with me and Blackie is too busy to take notice because we had our own Blessed Event. Blackie gave birth to FIVE puppies. None of us even knew she was pregnant.
Their eyes are still not open but they are already beginning to explore the world outside their house and I had to pick up my favorite one morning when he was starting to … errr … not quite crawl yet, just slide along on his belly, heading to the back garden. Erk. Papa Sparky probably would have killed it, as a rival. I don’t think Daddy Dogs have any cognizance of their own offspring. So I picked it up and put it back in the house. So soft. Silk. Sweetheart.
But then I have two new sweethearts, in addition to that one, in my life. One is a sixteen-year-old lad. Okay, I know, that’s two years too early for my standards, but Alec is a fictional character so I allow myself an exception. Since Luck in the Shadows is the first volume of a trilogy, maybe he’ll marure enough by the third volume that I can lust without guilt.
The other is a new Bad Boy. I’ll call him Eddie. When I asked what his name was, he grinned and said “it starts with an E and ends with an E”. I guessed Eddie. Wrong, but I’ll still call him that. He’s so good-humored, so likeable that I was smitten within minutes. Handsome fellow, too. I patted him on his shoulder and his knee several times but wouldn’t let myself run my hand through his hair even though I certainly wanted to.
Well, it’s now August. I was really tempted to leave the Little House in the Valley this month. I just can’t afford five hundred dollars rent. I have an appointment with a social worker at River of Life on Tuesday. I must get on the waiting lists of the subsidized senior housing available here. Maybe someone will die, or better, get so frail they have to move into a nursing home, and I’ll get my own space.
All I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air, with one enormous chair, oh wouldn’t it be luverly …
