Not a drop of rain? Make that 15 hours of nothing but drops of rain and after about an hour break, the count continues. Dreary.
Of course it does mean I’m staying home and not spending any money which is a good thing since I’ve already spent much too much this month. “But this month it’s all mine, mine! (Not that it’s going to last all that long.)” Yep, I got that right. A shame I can’t manage cash as well as I do foodstamps. Despite buying far more luxurious things than I would if using cash, the stamps never run out.
I’ve got the sniffles again already, thanks to Jayvee. As I said once, he seems to acquire every virus that visits Kalakaua Middle School. I’m grateful swine flu hasn’t. At least not yet.
Continuing to work on the Cave pages, finished the Hawaii page this morning. And then the Underground page which had even more correction work. Not surprising, can’t expect dopers, mystics and kooks to keep up a project (or a website).
I did wonder if it’s really worth it. The only page I regularly use is The Toolbox and that’s mainly for the shareware sites. I’m addicted to downloading free stuff, especially games. I did find an especially interesting game yesterday called “Conquer” which is an online, multiplayer epic. Both Jayvee and I are playing it. But most of the freebies aren’t very good and are soon deleted.
Rainy day webwork, fun and games. [yawn]

Well, Felicia was just a tropical depression when she arrived this morning, not even a drop of rain although some is still expected before she goes on her way. No complaints from me, none at all.
I saw Julie and Julia with Helen on Sunday. What a delightful, touching, funny film. Meryl Streep was magnificent but all involved, especially the director, did a fine job. My favorite film of the year thus far, and highly recommended.
Otherwise I’ve stayed busy with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and continuing the chore of updating, correcting and editing the Cave’s pages. I’m planning to trim it down eventually, did once reduce the Hawaiian Islands page to Hawaii Express and think I’ll do that again. With all the search machines around, really no need to maintain such directories.
(Hard to believe but when I first began that Hawaii page it listed every website on this island!)
And, oh yes, I continue playing Maple Story, have made it to level 26. I do understand completely how the boys got so addicted to it.

From Facebook: “You can play for awhile if you want,” I said to Jayvee, the twelve-year-old. Of course, he jumped up and ran into my room, played Maple Story while I watched “Milk Man” with Harold Lloyd and Adolphe Menjou. A delightfully silly film which made me laugh more than I have in ages. (Jayvee’s remarks while playing were just as much a pleasure.)
Rascal showed off by creating a new character and getting it as high as mine in two hours. (Only took me three days.) But now I’ve finally made it to level 20 and was given a pet as a reward. A “Mini Yeti”. [!]
Yesterday TCM showed Judy Garland movies all day and I watched seven of them. My favorite of the selection was “Meet Me in St. Louis”. That sorted out the Earworm which had been stuck on “Mele Kalikimaka”. Just a few months early, I grumbled, but as usual it paid no attention to me. At least now it’s happy with “Meet me in Saint Loo-ie, Loo-ie, meet me at the fair …”
I did buy Motrin, or a generic version of it, and my leg is much better. The drug not only provides instant pain relief but seems to have chilled it out permanently. I’ll be more than happy if it lasts a long time.
And I’ll also be more than happy if Hurricane Alicia arrives here a doddering old lady.

I think this proves I was right about Jayvee being a very cute boy:

And this that Handsome Son is indeed:

I very greatly admire Maple Story. It’s a brilliant job of game design, it really is. Delightful graphics, too. Jayvee keeps nagging me, wanting to show me how to level faster, but I say over and over again, I’m not in a hurry.
This is the first month since April I haven’t had some special expense. In May, Jayvee’s birthday. In June, KM’s birthday. In July, renewing my annual bus pass (although I had help with that). But this month it’s all mine, mine! (Not that it’s going to last all that long.)
But I did finally buy some new clothes, first time this year. Most came from the used, discount store, Savers, but I did buy a pair of pants from Old Navy. Weirdo has already admired them, wondered where they came from.
“Weirdo” is the fellow who gave the Old Blind Lady a black eye. Landlady asked me to make friends with him, so I’ve tried. Helped by him asking me to buy him cigarettes. If I buy him two packs, he buys me one. Okay, okay, I’m a slut and it isn’t difficult to come up with an offer I can’t refuse.
I guess tomorrow must be Judy Garland’s birthday since TCM is showing nothing but her movies all day. Amazing they didn’t include “A Star is Born” (not to mention “Wizard of Oz”, but then they’ve showed that twice recently).
A hurricane named Felicia is headed straight toward us, reminding me of the last one which hit here, Iniki. Jonathan and I had the brainy idea of walking over to the beach to watch it hit. The cops soon put the damper on that. Just as well, since it swept the ocean right through the Hilton Hawaiian Village, where we were headed.
This time the only precaution I’m taking is to make sure I have enough tobacco and whiskey for the duration. Go ahead, Felicia, show me what you’re made of.

“please dont add my mail , or about me to your books and blog, the word you hate!”
I’m sorry, my dear Deepak, but there’s just no way I can’t mention having heard from you and how very, very happy I am to have done so.

Supposedly, I can now add photos to this blog (sheez, I hate that word). Let’s see.
