A festive time at the House in the Valley. On the 17th, JM turned 12. Four days later, Handsome Son made it to 19.
Then we had melodrama. Landlady got a new “client”, a 56-year-old man who looks older than I do, as the boys pointed out to me.
I listened to his initial interview and thought most of it was total bullshit. He said, for instance, that he lived in Ohio, “next to New York”. Errr … there’s the little state of New Jersey and the rather large state of Pennsylvania in between. No way Ohio is “next” to New York.
And the silly man had to be reminded several times that he is in Honolulu, not in Molokai and certainly not in Manila, which he suggested.
Well, okay, he’s a weirdo. But he went well over the line of acceptable behavior when during the night the old blind lady annoyed him so much he punched her in the face, giving her a quite amazing black eye.
I told the Landlady I wanted to call the social worker and tell her to get the bastid out of the house. She said she had already called her.
But he’s still there.
Do I just shut up and say no more?

Hallelujah! JM said that “Maple Story” is “starting to get boring”.
Of all the memorable lines in “Gone With the Wind”, I had forgotten one. Scarlett sobbing “I’m afraid of dying and going to hell.” HA!
Well in the belief system of the time, that would certainly have been her fate. And in a strange quirk of memory, that reminded me of when I was in the choir in Junior High School. I did something bad in class one day. I don’t remember what it was, but I do remember my punishment. I had to stand up in front of the class and sing a song.
I sang “I Believe”.
I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows …
Bleugh.
I don’t believe in much of anything anymore. Except for love. Yes, I do believe in love.

Well, maybe I can’t access a computer with SSH but I have managed a slightly strange option.
On the main Tales page you will now see an option to access The Cave and that will provide you (after scrolling down) at least some of the link-collections once available on the old Panther’s Cave page.
I did enjoy browsing the collection of drawings I did with the Sleeptalker and others, plus seeing “Dame Edith” who is now comfortably residing in France.
Some of the links jump back to lava.net, where it is no doubt easier to just buy more storage space than delete ancient material. Sweet of them

When I am not watching TCM, Turner Classic Movies, my favorite television channel is KIKU, Japanese television.
Their afternoon soap-operas and evening mini-series have the most beautiful young men to be seen anywhere. But my favorite show of all is “Partners”, a double-detective series where the younger partner is not beautiful but is the most desirable man on the planet, after Brad Pitt.
Well anyway, KIKU is having a Mother’s Day haiku contest.
Haiku. 5-7-5 syllables, right? I came up with:
My mother is dead.
I do not know when she went.
And I do not care.
I don’t expect to win the contest.

I’d really like to get on a computer with SSH and edit the main page of the Panther’s Cave. Recently I was alone in the house so I sneaked a few minutes on the boys’ laptop but, alas, there seems to be no free download of SSH.
And I had such a difficult time with the cranky little touchpad the laptop has instead of a mouse.
Anyway, I read the first of the “Vignettes” on the existing main Cave page and did enjoy it.
Ah, my dear, crazy Sleeptalker. How I miss you.
